Storage of DekBoard PVC Decking
Building the Subframe
Timber Specifications:
Use C16 quality timber (C24 is recommended) for the subframe, including posts, and ensure it is appropriately treated for outdoor use.
Bearers: Use 6” x 2” timber bearers (145mm x 45mm) aligned with the main traffic flow. Max spacing between bearers: 400mm (16”) centres; 300mm (12”) centres are recommended for high foot traffic areas. Timber Post Size: Use 95mm x 95mm posts or two 95mm x 47mm sections screwed together. Post Size Limitation: Any timber post larger than 98mm x 98mm will not fit inside the DekBoard post bracket.
Subframe Support:
Timber posts and intermediate supports should be placed on a stable, well-drained surface.
Use DekBoard subframe brackets at all post corners for added support.
Bearers Spacing:
Maximum unsupported span for timber bearers is 2.22m between posts or supports.
Install noggins (horizontal braces) every 1.11m along the span to improve rigidity and strength.
For angled installations, adjust the bearer centres to maintain proper fixing spacing.
Installing the Deck Boards
Fixing the Boards:
Use clips and stainless steel screws to secure the DekBoard at each bearer, ensuring clips are properly seated.
Board End Support: Where board ends meet, install a second bearer to fully support the ends of each board, securing them with their own clip.
Leave a 5mm gap between board ends for expansion.
Overlap Joints: Always overlap adjacent board end joints by at least two bearers to ensure secure and stable connections.

Ventilation Requirements:
Adequate ventilation is essential to prevent heat buildup, especially for low-lying decks or those with darker DekBoard colours.
Ensure a minimum 10mm continuous ventilation gap under the deck for proper airflow. This allows for thorough ventilation to prevent moisture accumulation.
Minimum Deck Surface Height:
With proper timber, air gaps, and DekBoard installation, the minimum deck surface height should be 185mm to accommodate necessary ventilation.
