Proper installation is essential to maximize the lifespan, aesthetics, and performance of Triton WPC decking. Below are step-by-step instructions and key considerations to ensure a successful project.
Important Installation Considerations
Acclimatisation
Colour and Surface Deviation
Slight colour and surface variations may occur due to raw materials and surface treatments.
Deck boards will fade over the first 12 months before stabilising. Fading depends on sunlight exposure and weather conditions.
Ventilation
Ensure proper ventilation under the decking structure to maintain the warranty.
Avoid direct contact between the decking and the ground (e.g., grass or soil).
Base Requirements
Use a strong, compacted base like concrete.
WPC decking is not suitable for closed, moist environments such as saunas.
Step 1: Preparing the Substructure
Drainage: Ensure adequate drainage below the decking area. A slight gradient of 1%–1.5% away from walls is recommended.
Subframe Layout: Lay the subframe lengthways and ensure it is spaced 350 mm apart at most. Maintain a gap of 300–400 mm between expansion screw fixings when securing the subframe to the base.
Clearance: Keep the subframe clear of walls or obstacles by at least 15 mm to allow for expansion.
Double Bearers: Use double bearers where decking boards join longitudinally to provide sufficient support. Ensure that each board end is fully supported by a joist or clip.
Step 2: Installing the Decking Boards

Additional Notes
Weather Impact: The expansion rate of WPC decking varies with weather. Always account for expansion during installation.
Warranty Validity: Use only original accessories and components from Storm to maintain the product warranty.
By following these instructions, you can ensure a professional and durable installation for your Triton WPC decking.
