Battens

Vertical Battens: Use 25mm x 38mm tanalised timber for vertical battens, spaced at maximum 210mm centers.
Batting Alignment: Ensure all battens are parallel, straight, and level for the best installation.

Membrane

Breather Membrane: Install a breather membrane between the battens and the substrate if the substrate is not water-resistant.

Trim Installation

Universal Channel: Attach a Universal Channel at the base of the installation using 25mm A4 stainless steel pins. Pins should be spaced 300mm apart.
Include 30mm x 4mm drainage slots every 1m along the channel to ensure proper moisture management.
Optionally, you may install without a trim along the bottom edge for a simpler look.
Vertical Edge/Corner Trims: Use 2-part vertical Edge/Corner trims. Cut out a section of the rear of the trim to fit around the Universal Channel, and secure with 25mm A4 stainless steel pins at 300mm intervals.
Ensure the trims are straight, plumb, and cover the full height of the installation.
Top Edge Trim: Install the male trim of the 2-part Top Edge Trim between the two vertical trims at the top of the installation.

Cladding Plank Installation

First Cladding Plank:

Position the first cladding plank into one of the vertical trims and the Universal Trim, ensuring an 8mm expansion gap at each end.
Verify the plank’s position, then secure it with 30mm A4 stainless steel Cladding Pins through the nailing line.
Alternative Fasteners: You may also use 3mm x 30mm stainless steel screws in place of the Cladding Pins.

Subsequent Planks:

Interlock each plank with the previous one, maintaining an 8mm expansion gap at each end. Secure them using the same fasteners as before.
Repeat this process until you reach the final plank, checking that each plank covers the fixings of the previous plank and is fully engaged.

Final Plank:

Cut the final plank to fit the gap at the top corner.
Ensure space for the male and female components of the 2-part Top Edge Trim to engage.
Use off-cut packing material to keep the last plank’s outer face aligned with the rest of the cladding. Secure it with pins or screws.

Finishing:

Complete the installation by cutting and securing the second part of the 2-part Trims.

This diagonal installation method will ensure a secure, professional finish with effective moisture management and proper air flow.
