- Alternatively, cut a 30mm wide strip from a Hardie® Plank cladding sheet to kick out the first plank and ensure uniform lap spacing.
- Nail the 30mm strip along the front face of the vertical battens to align the lower edge of the starter strip with the bottom of the battens, ensuring coherence in subsequent courses.
- Apply the Hardie® Plank Starter trim to the wall before installing the first layer of cladding, marking 170mm up from the bottom edge to establish the top of the first cladding row.
- Ensure the marked line is perfectly horizontal to achieve a 10mm drip edge at the bottom of the cladding and maintain aesthetic consistency throughout the installation.
