Q. How does polycarbonate compare to glass in impact strength?

A. Polycarbonate is up to 200 times more impact resistant than float glass.

Q.  What are the benefits of polycarbonate over glass?

A. Polycarbonate is stronger, more impact resistant, lighter in weight, won’t shatter, is easier to fabricate, and can be formed.

Q. Will polycarbonate sheet turn yellow after a few years?

A.  The polycarbonate sheet we sell is of a quality that with proper maintenance, should last 10 years or more before it ever shows any appreciable sign of yellowing.

Q. Should I be concerned about scratching?

A.  All materials will scratch to a greater or lesser degree dependent on the surface hardness. In glazing applications, the best performer is of course glass. When it comes to plastic sheet material acrylic is one the hardest with PETG/PET and polycarbonate being less hard. As with all things when selecting a material for an application there is a trade-off, with all properties having to be considered. Unlike acrylic, scratches cannot be readily polished out.

Q. How do you clean polycarbonate sheet?

A. Use a mild soap & water mixture with a gentle cleaning cloth. Do not use ammonia-based cleaning solutions.
