Reliable Wastewater Management
The 32mm ABS Solvent Weld Waste Pipe delivers dependable performance, standards compliance, and a professional finish—making it a trusted choice for modern plumbing installations.
1. What is a 32mm waste pipe used for?
A 32mm waste pipe is typically used to carry wastewater from washbasins and bidets to the main drainage system. It is ideal for light-duty domestic waste applications.
2. What is the difference between waste pipes and soil pipes?
Waste pipes carry grey water only (from sinks, showers, etc.), whereas soil pipes carry contaminated water from toilets. Waste pipes are smaller in diameter and do not require venting, as they do not produce harmful gases.
3. What material is this waste pipe made from?
This pipe is made from ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), a strong, impact-resistant plastic commonly used in plumbing due to its durability and smooth internal bore.
4. Is this waste pipe manufactured to a recognised standard?
Yes. The pipe is manufactured in the UK to BS EN 1455 and is Kitemarked, ensuring consistent quality, safety, and performance.
5. Can this 32mm waste pipe be cut to size?
Yes. The pipe can be easily cut down to the required length using a fine-tooth saw. Always ensure the cut edge is clean and free from burrs before solvent welding.
6. How do I create a solvent weld joint correctly?
To make a proper solvent weld joint:
Ensure both the pipe and fitting surfaces are clean and dry
Apply solvent cement (such as SC250) to both surfaces
Push the pipe fully into the fitting and twist slightly
Wipe away excess solvent
Allow at least 5 minutes to set and 12 hours before testing
7. Are solvent weld joints removable once fitted?
No. Solvent weld joints are permanent. Once bonded, the joint cannot be demounted, so accurate measurement and alignment are essential before installation.
8. Is this pipe suitable for domestic and commercial use?
This 32mm pipe is mainly intended for domestic applications such as basins. Larger sizes (40mm or 50mm) are recommended for higher flow rates or commercial installations.
9. What safety precautions should be taken when using solvent cement?
Always work in a well-ventilated area, keep solvent cement away from heat or naked flames, and avoid skin contact. If contact occurs, wash thoroughly with soap and water.
10. Can this waste pipe be used with push-fit fittings?
No. This pipe is designed specifically for solvent weld systems. Push-fit systems use different pipe tolerances and sealing methods and should not be mixed with solvent weld components.
The 32mm ABS Solvent Weld Waste Pipe is a reliable, standards-compliant solution for basin waste installations, offering strong, permanent joints and long-term performance when installed correctly.
